You should listen to this song if : You don't expect too much from it...
About this song : It's a parody about the songs with themes like "let's hit the road" or promises of a better life far away... About the author : La chanson du dimanche is a small band of two funny and talented guys, who have recorded every week a new song. Some of these songs are epic, others are just shit. They usually mock an habit or a common set of mind of French people. They can be difficult to understand for foreigners, because they use a lot of "cultural references". Among their hits, you can also listen to "Bonne humeur", "Petit cheminot", "Bluetooth" and "Super pouvoir d'achat". Les paroles, and their approximate translation : Avant que l’usure du temps ne nous sépare Before the

Aaaah chiche, chiche, chiche ce soir Aaaah
bet you we will tonight Note : Albanel was a culture minister (and she wasn’t famous for her culture…) ; Bénabar is a popular French singer, whose songs are simple and music is basic. Bigard is a French humorist who is almost specialized in “dirty jokes”. He uses vulgar expressions and lots of swearwords. Ben-Hur and char : “Arrête ton char” is a French expression meaning “hold on your horses”. It came into a habit to add “Ben-Hur” at the end of this expression because of the famous chariot race in the Ben-Hur story. Of course Ben-Hur never stops his chariot, he wins the race. Masure is a famous TV news presenter , he is a very kind interviewer and a soft spoken man ; Magloire is a TV animator and he is gay. He’s also very extrovert and extravagant. Nobody could think that Masure would ever “challenge” Magloire in an interview. Aaaah chiche (aaaah you dare) : It’s a tongue in cheek ; you could hear it like “hashish” (marijuana) tonight… L’envie de chapeauter … turgescent : it’s both : nonsense as if the author had smoked hashich, outrageously esoteric and elaborate to mock some writers who think it’s art or poetry when no one understands anything ; and last but not least if you pay close attention the lyrics are in fact completely sexual (he’s talking about his erection…)
